Kelvin Caraballo y José Ascanio son las nuevas tuercas del cohete mirandino, para emprender su despegue a la primera edición de la Superliga de Baloncesto. Ambos jugadores se desempeñan como ala-pivots y completarían las posiciones 4 y 5 del club.
Este par de atletas cumplen con los requisitos demandados por el cuerpo técnico mirandino. Contar con Caraballo es de suma importancia para el conjunto debutante como profesional, pues es un viejo conocido de los tabloncillos criollos.
Del dueto, Caraballo es el de mayor recorrido por el “mundo de las alturas”. En Venezuela es conocido por su intervención con el conjunto Cocodrilos de Caracas y por su más que valorada capacidad atlética.
El capitalino de 32 años de edad se alejó del baloncesto nacional desde el 2017 y se mantuvo activo con diversos equipos de países del continente suramericano. Ahora, Supersónicos le ha abierto las puertas para retornar y exhibir su evolución.
“Estuve expectante porque en muchas ligas de Suramérica no se está trabajando y el mercado de alguna forma está saturado”, reconoció Caraballo al departamento de prensa del equipo mirandino, quien se mantuvo activo antes de la pandemia del Covid-19, jugando en Argentina. “Fue la gente de Supersónicos la que tomó esta gran iniciativa de comunicarse conmigo. Debo agradecer a Argenis Mújica y a toda esa gente que está haciendo posible que yo pueda regresar después de tanto tiempo”.
La principal motivación de Kelvin Caraballo, en regresar al baloncesto venezolano fue el futuro que le asomaron. “Volver con un nuevo equipo es algo que me hace soñar con que puedo seguir haciendo las cosas bien como lo hice anteriormente, eso lo debo asumir con mucha responsabilidad y que el equipo se sienta satisfecho con cada cosa que me toca hacer en la cancha”, contó Caraballo.
Ascanio con menos recorrido, pero igual de importante para Supersónicos
José Ascanio, por su parte, posee menos experiencia en su currículo en comparación con su ahora compañero Caraballo. Sin embargo, a sus 24 calendarios cumplidos, ya cuenta con diversas participaciones en la Selección Nacional de mayores, en una liga del baloncesto español y en la nación gaucha. Mientras que en el circuito rentado profesional defendió los colores de la divisa Guaros de Lara.
El oriundo del estado Guárico podría desenvolverse como alero y sus 2,01 metros de estatura le permiten apoyar también a los internos.
“Estoy bastante contento por formar parte de este equipo. Me parece que es un buen proyecto el que se está planteando. Conozco a muchos de los jugadores de la plantilla, son buenos todos y pienso que estamos bien conformados porque existe allí una buena mezcla de jugadores de experiencia y también se tiene talento joven, que es lo que se quiere”, dijo Ascanio.
Ambos estarán arribando a territorio patrio este martes junto con Abrouse Acosta, y una vez hayan cumplido con todos los protocolos de bioseguridad, reportarse a los entrenamientos de pretemporada que iniciaron el domingo en el Parque Miranda.
