Bajo ese contexto, la Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional (LVBP) finalmente se pronunció sobre el escenario actual de la temporada 2020-2021.
Y fue algo parecido a un grito de auxilio. A través de un comunicado publicado en la página oficial del circuito, la LVBP aseguró que el panorama no es alentador, porque la planificación de la próxima campaña cuenta con agentes patógenos que son difíciles de controlar.
“Hoy están presentes factores que lamentablemente la LVBP no controla”, dice el comunicado. “La certeza de un restablecimiento normalizado de vuelos internacionales, así como el ascenso de contagios por el virus citado que trastoca la certidumbre de los días por venir”.
De acuerdo con fuentes consultadas por Carlos Valmore, los equipos no han comenzado a vender publicidad y, cuando deberían restar menos de dos meses para iniciar la campaña, el presente económico de la liga no es el mejor.
“El tiempo es un factor determinante para brindarle a la fanaticada venezolana una nueva temporada con el estándar al que está acostumbrado”, continuó el informado. “A escasos meses para lo que sería la jornada inaugural de la zafra 2020-2021, tenemos el deber de manifestar muy responsablemente que el montaje del evento favorito y más esperado del pueblo venezolano se hace cada vez más complejo. Nuestra intención es y seguirá siendo organizar un campeonato para jugar beisbol, lo cual es nuestra razón de ser”.

En la LVBP todavía no se tomó una decisión concreta sobre la próxima zafra. A pesar de que todo luce en contra, el alto mando intentará que haya beisbol en 2020 en Venezuela, aunque necesitará colaboración
LVBP espera un milagro
La LVBP necesita armar un protocolo lo suficientemente sólido como para que MLB lo apruebe. Para concretarlo, necesita entablar una comunicación constante con el Ministerio del Poder Popular para la Juventud y Deporte. Hasta hace una semana, no sucedió. De acuerdo al pronunciamiento, no hubo cambio.
“No hemos tenido respuestas del Ministerio del Deporte, que es la máxima autoridad en nuestro sector. La fecha en la que estamos y tal silencio hace casi imposible la realización de un torneo”, afirmó al periodista Jesús Ponte, Giussepe Palmisano, presidente de la LVBP.
Sin embargo, la liga espera un milagro. Un mensaje, llamada o nota que aparezca de la nada para que el pesimismo se transforme en optimismo.
“Estamos convencidos que superaremos estos obstáculos y nos reencontraremos más temprano que tarde en los estadios venezolanos, disfrutando de cada jugada, picheo y batazo del talento criollo en constante ascenso”, cerró la LVBP.
