Por allá en un lejano inicio de siglo 21. la selección nacional de Venezuela nos hacía empezar a sentir que algo estaba cambiando, un grupo unido que se divertía y que poco a poco hacían llegar finalmente los tan esperados resultados.
Con eso llegó el “boom” Vinotinto, todos empezamos a soñar, a creer en nuestra selección, pero al mismo tiempo a olvidarnos de todo lo que venía junto a eso, no solo eran jugadores y técnicos, existía ya una FVF que tenia casi dos décadas haciendo literalmente lo que le venía en gana a manos de Rafael Esquivel.
Nadie reclamaba, nadie siquiera pensaba en hacerle frente cada vez que era momento de elecciones, todo era “hermoso”, y ¿cómo no? Si hasta Adidas se interesó en nosotros.
A eso se le sumaba la llegada de una estrella, Juan Arango; el de Maracay empezaba a brillar en el extranjero como nunca lo había hecho un venezolano, nos ilusionábamos y más aún, nos alejábamos de una realidad llamada FVF.
A finales de la era Páez se empezaba a ver de nuevo las costuras, jugadores puestos a dedo; deudas, diferencias entre cuerpo técnico, jugadores y federación, nos hacía volver a dudar, aunque siempre ocurría ese milagro que nos hacía olvidar.
“Le ganamos a Brasil”
Fue así como llegó Cesar Farías. Un tipo al que le habían salido las cosas bien en el FutVe y que prometía una nueva era llena de cosas buenas. Y es que apenas empezar logró la primera victoria frente a Brasil en nuestra historia, eso si, en suelo neutro y en una fecha que no era FIFA por lo que realmente no cuenta en los registros. Pero vaya día ese, unos impecables Giancarlos Maldonado y Ronald Vargas nos ilusionaron como nunca antes.
El ciclo Farías arrancaba de manera impecable. Además dandole terreno a nuevos nombres, ya que Cesar había recibido también el derecho a manejar las inferiores, Cesar sacó lo mejor de jugadores como Giacomo Di Giorgi, Paky Lucena, Oswaldo Vizcarrondo entre otros. Por otra parte, al paso de los meses le dio absoluta confianza al ahora capitán Tomás Rincón.
Sueño Mundialista
Con Cesar llegó el tan esperado sueño mundialista gracias a la gran labor de una sub20; que más que una selección era una familia, una que nos dejó a un goleador como Salomón Rondón.
Durante este tiempo nos volvimos a desentender del desastre FVF; Cesar y sus muchachos nos hacían sentir plenos, aunque con algunas caídas, pero que más podíamos pedir, ya en definitiva no eramos la cenicienta del continente y hasta empezaron de alguna manera a respetarnos.
Pero esa magia también llegó a su fin, roces entre DT y jugadores; alos resultados y cambios de patrocinares desgastaron una vez más la paciencia de todos y una vez más los ojos apuntaron a la realidad. Pero ni así alguien lograba hacerle frente a Rafael Esquivel y sus más de 15 años en el cargo.
De Chita a Dudamel en un abrir y cerrar de ojos en la selección
Era momento de volver a cambiar, y nadie en el país merecía más el puesto, Que Noel “,Chita” Sanvicente. Todos celebraban la llegada del más ganador de Venezuela a la selección,
“Ahora si es el momento”. Pero la ilusión no duró mucho, la relación entre el actual técnico del Caracas FC y los jugadores fue casi nula y luego de una terrible actuación en la Copa América de Chile 2015, una carta que nunca debió existir y muchos rumores Chita renuncia para abrir paso a la era Dudamel.
Con Dudamel volvieron a vivirse grandes momentos a nivel de inferiores, mundiales en diferentes categorías y además nos convertimos en subcampeones del mundo sub20.
Fue también en este periodo en el que la FVF tuvo que dar un giro rotundo tras ser Rafael Esquivel acusados en el FIFA Gate; y siendo detenido en Suiza para luego ser extraditado a los Estados Unidos, donde aún cumple su cadena, aunque con casa por carcel.
Laureano González, Jesús Berardineli y la junta reguladora
El alto mando de la FVF fue tomado por su primer presidente y mano derecha de Esquivel, Laureano González. Es decir nada cambió, todo seguía igual, y otra vez nadie que se atrevía a dar cara frente a la hegemonía de ya 30 años.
Por razones de salud dio un paso al costado y llegó Jesús Berardineli, que en paz descanase. con quien se volvió aún más turbio todo, demandas por malversación entre otras cosas lo hicieron recibir una juntaa reguladora presidida nada más y nada menos que por Laureano González por parte de CONMEBOL.
Durante el periodo de gestión de esta junta, llegó José Peseiro, todo una vez más parecía hermoso, finalmente teníamos un DT extranjero; además uno con buena experiencia, pero entonces vino la pandemía, el portugués no tuvo la oportunidad de arrancar el ciclo como era debido.
Sumado a que continuaban las malas gestiones de la FVF y de la convocatoria a unas elecciones que terminaron dando ganador a un grupo de jóvenes ligados al fútbol de los que se espera todo mejore.
Pero, las primeras sensaciones no son buenas, a 13 días para una nueva fecha FIFA, triple además, nos le quedo otra que sincerarse públicamente y aceptar que la FVF tiene una deuda de más de 5 millones de dólares y por incumplimiento de pagos el técnico portugués ha renunciado.
Una nueva era
Si bien los nuevos directivos no son culpables de 35 años de desastre, no tendrán nada fácil ganarse la confianza de todos, sanar las deudas será complicado en un país como Venezuela, esclarecer será fundamental para comenzar a ser mejor vistos, por eso en mi opinión la inmediatez de la rueda de prensa de este viernes es una buena señal dentro de todo lo malo que está ocurriendo.
Jorge Gimenez y compañía tienen una tarea bastante complicada por delante, no quisiera estar en sus zapatos en este momento, pero creo que debemos tener calma, no lapidar de una vez y esperar que el proceso arranque del todo para poder así medir como es debido una nueva gerencia que comienza.
Estoy triste por la salida de Peseiro sin lugar a dudas. Pero quiero también creer que vendrán tiempos mejores en la selección, donde como dijo el mismo presidente Gimenez, no vivamos del momento, si no de una realidad que abarque todos los rincones de nuestro fútbol, solo así realmente creceremos y empezaremos a ver un cambio real en el balompié venezolano.
Y en ese momento nuestra vinotinto dejará de ser una utopia de momentos para convertirse en una realidad.
