A tan sólo días del regreso del fútbol en Perú, Ray Sandoval, considerado uno de los futbolistas más destacados del país protagonizó un escándalo tras ser detenido por la policía al conducir en estado de ebriedad, chocando su vehículo durante el horario de toque de queda en la madrugada del domingo 2 de agosto.
Ray Sandoval es uno de los delanteros del club Sporting Cristal que cuenta con excelentes cualidades ofensivas; pero eso no fue impedimento para que lo apartaran del club tras el vergonzoso incidente. El jugador iba acompañado por su novia, la modelo Andrea Miranda, cuando destrozó intencionalmente el vehículo del ex novio de Andrea; el también modelo Sebastián Lizarzaburu. Éste último fue quien hizo la denuncia a la policía.
Como si este hecho fuera poco, Sandoval intentó echarse a la fuga, pero chocó en una avenida y la policía lo detuvo. El jugador tenía un fuerte aliento a alcohol, y en la prueba de dosaje etílico su resultado fue de 1.73, superando por más del triple el límite de 0.5. Esto incurre como un delito en Perú, al cual se le suma el delito de haberse movilizado durante el toque de queda en pleno estado de emergencia que mantiene este país.
Sebastián Lizarzaburu, la victima de estos actos, además de llamar a la policía hizo público el suceso en sus redes sociales. Mostró un video de los hechos en el que se logra evidenciar el estado de ebriedad en las que se encontraban Ray Sandoval y su novia. Desencadenando que Sporting Cristal; no dejara pasar esto por alto.
El equipo celeste es conocido por ser estricto con las conductas disciplinarias de sus jugadores, así que los directivos realizaron una reunión de emergencia en la mañana del domingo 2 de agosto. Ray Sandoval llegó este año en condición de préstamo al club limeño, pues su ficha pertenece al Mazatlán (antes Morelia) de México.
“El contrato de Ray era hasta el 30 de junio o hasta acabado el Torneo Apertura. Nosotros entendemos que el contrato se extiende automáticamente hasta el final del Apertura por esa cláusula”, fueron las primeras declaraciones del dirigente, José Antonio Mellina
Sporting Cristal despidió al jugador
Lo que era un secreto a voces, terminó ocurriendo el lunes 3 de agosto en horas de la noche. Sporting Cristal hizo oficial la separación de Ray Sandoval del equipo celeste; reafirmando así su política de intolerancia hacia la indisciplina a falta de 5 días para el próximo partido en la Liga 1.
«Luego de la correspondiente evaluación de los hechos, el club Sporting Cristal ha decidido proceder con la separación inmediata y definitiva del futbolista Ray Sandoval del equipo profesional de fútbol; suspendiendo de manera integral toda actividad profesional del deportista», afirmó el comunicado del club.
El futbolista había ofrecido disculpas por lo sucedido un día antes de que se hiciera oficial la decision del club; pero no fue suficiente. De esta manera, Sporting Cristal se queda sin uno de sus delanteros de cara al reinicio de la Liga 1.
