Reducir el fútbol sólo a 22 jugadores, 90 minutos y goles, es algo muy básico. Todo deporte siempre va más allá de una cancha y la historia de la futbolista Virginia Torrecilla, es un claro ejemplo.
La mediocampista española, se encuentra en la etapa de recuperación de un tumor cerebral desde el pasado mes de mayo. Y aunque su equipo, Atlético de Madrid, se coronó campeón de la Supercopa de España, el trofeo más importante lo ha conseguido ella, tras anticiparse a la enfermedad y meterle un gol a la vida.
‘Las Colchoneras’ vencieron el pasado sábado 16 de enero al Levante con un cómodo marcador de 0-3, donde la criolla Deyna Castellanos anotó uno de esos goles. Ajara Nchout aportó con otros dos tantos para ir cómodos al descanso y luego alzar la copa.
Y este no fue un título más para el Atlético de Madrid Femenino, fue el primero en la historia de este certamen. Pero también se convirtió en la fiel demostración de que el deporte premia ante las desgracias. De que la vida y la salud es lo más importante. Que antes de ser futbolistas o atletas, los (y las) protagonistas son seres humanos, como aquel que lee o escribe esta nota.
Por ello, la ceremonia de premiación no podía terminar de otra manera que con Virginia Torrecilla levantando la copa de campeón para el Atlético. Sobre todo, cuando se acerca el aniversario de la noticia más dolorosa para la española y que dolió más que un descenso o un gol en contra al minuto 90.
El partido más importante de Virginia Torrecilla
Desde muy joven, Virginia Torrecilla debutó como profesional. Lo hizo en el año 2009, junto al U.D. Collerense, en la primera categoría del balompié femenino español donde se mantuvo por dos años antes de ir al Sporting de Palma en 2011 de la segunda división.
Pero fue en el F.C. Barcelona donde consiguió grandes e importantes cosas. Entre 2012 y 2015, disputó cerca de 108 compromisos y anotó seis tantos. Además, alzó en tres oportunidades el título de la liga (Primera Iberdrola) y en dos la Copa de la Reina.
Tras conquistar el fútbol de España, cruzó la frontera con destino a Francia para formar parte del Montpellier HSC, estando de 2015 a 2019. Y aunque la participación de Virginia Torrecilla no se transformó en títulos, disputó más de noventa encuentros, anotando diez goles.
Junto a la selección femenina de España, Virginia Torrecilla también fue una mediocampista indispensable. Lleva en su historial, un Europeo sub-19 (subcampeona), dos Eurocopa (2013 y 2017, cuartos de final) y par de mundiales (2015 y 2019, Fase de grupos y octavos de final, respectivamente).
Asimismo, para el 2019 el fútbol español volvería a ser testigo de su talento. Fue anunciada por el Atlético de Madrid, representante su cuarto equipo en su tierra natal. Pero acá solamente pudo jugar 26 compromisos.
Sin embargo, ninguno de los más de 330 encuentros previos en su carrera profesional resultaban tan importantes como el que enfrentó un 21 de mayo de 2020, cuando se sometió a una neurocirugía con el fin de extraer un tumor cerebral. Para fortuna, la misma fue con total éxito, pero Virginia Torrecilla todavía no ha podido retornar a las canchas tras encontrarse en tratamiento.
Reacciones tras el juego
Luego de que el Atlético de Madrid consiguió la copa y fuese levantada por Virginia Torrecilla, las reacciones tanto en el campo como en las redes sociales no se hicieron esperar. Y el primero de ellos fue el rival del día: Levante UD.
Como obsequio a la jugadora, se le entregó un cuadro que llevaba internamente la camisa con los colores del cuadro valenciano junto a un mensaje de unión. “Jugamos contigo”, decía en el reverso de la misma, como un gesto apegado al fair play, más allá del resultado final.
Por su parte, otras compañeras del equipo y futbolistas internacionales, dedicaron un espacio en sus redes sociales para Virginia Torrecilla. Entre ellas la venezolana Deyna Castellanos y la colombiana Leicy Santos.
También la sueca Sofía Jakobsson escribió un mensaje para su ex compañera del Montpellier haciendo referencia al cariño que le tenía a Virginia. “Es más que sólo fútbol”, publicó, en conjunto a un video del Atlético de Madrid celebrando junto a la mediocampista.
Pero uno de los mensajes más emotivos lo escribió la propia Amanda Sampedro, capitana colchonera que cedió el puesto para que Torrecilla levantara la copa. “Por todos, Atleti. Pero, sobre todo por ti @virginiatr6. Porque tú eres nuestra heroína. Porque nos haces crecer cada día. Porque tú eres atleti. Esto jamás ha sido fútbol. Llorar y reir van de la mano. Supercampeonas”.
