El entrenador Nelson Castillo, veterinario Freddy Morales y el jinete Jean Carlos Rodríguez, han sido suspendidos por el caso del caballo Raffsttar en el Hipódromo La Rinconada.
Castillo y Morales fueron sancionados por dos años, mientras que Rodríguez cumplirá suspensión de seis meses, éste último fue el fusta del equino en la Triple Corona.
Todo comenzó con la derrota del caballo triplecoronado en el Clásico Presidente de la República (Grado 1) que se disputó el 18 de abril.
Raffsttar no figuró en victoria de Apistos. En esa ocasión, el jinete Cipriano Gil informó a los comisarios de que el caballo “nunca respondió” y los jueces hípicos abrieron una averiguación.
Las autoridades del INH comenzaron la investigación sobre la salud del purasangre, presuntamente de sus miembros anteriores.
Violaciones del Reglamento Nacional de Carreras
De acuerdo a las resoluciones de los comisarios, el entrenador Nelson Castillo violó el Reglamento Nacional de Carreras en sus artículos 156, 347 y 364.
Está relacionados con su responsabilidad en el cuido del caballo, por atentar contra el normal desenvolvimiento de las carreras y “por los casos no previstos en este reglamento, serán resueltos por el directorio” del INH.

Entretanto, por los casos del médico veterinario Freddy Morales y del jinete Jean Carlos Rodríguez se le aplicaron los artículos 347 y 364, arriba descritos.
El entrenador Nelson Castillo y el médico veterinario Freddy Morales, retornarían a sus funciones en junio de 2023. Por su parte, el jinete Jean Carlos Rodríguez para finales del mes de diciembre de este año.
Raffsttar, de cuatro años, es ganador de sies carreras en 12 salidas a la pista y defendiendo la chaquetilla del Stud Quarterback. Nació y se crió en el Haras Los Caracaros.
El caballo, actualmente, está alojado en la caballeriza del entrenador Fernando Parilli.
Dos años para Eglinder Betancourt
En otro caso, las autoridades del INH decidieron suspender por el término de dos años al jinete Eglinder Betancourt por no mostrar empeño en ganar (artículo 251) con la yegua debutante Miss Pericantar.
La carrera fue el 13 de junio de este año en la sexta válida para el juego del 5y6 en la propia arena de La Rinconada, cuando la yegua venía escapada en la punta para ganar la carrera y finalizó en la segunda ocasión.
