Carlos Cañizales iba a defender su corona minimosca de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo este jueves en Colombia, pero el criollo no podrá subir al cuadrilátero. Su rival el mexicano Jesús «Negrito» Silvestre no dio el peso y la pelea se canceló. Sin embargo, el resto de la carterlera sigue en pie.
Actualmente Venezuela tiene dos campeones mundiales en el boxeo masculino. Michell Banquez es el monarca gallo de la Organización Internacional de Boxeo, un organismo considerado menor en el pugilismo. De los cuatros principales organismos (AMB, CMB, FIB y OMB) el único criollo con una faja de campeón es Carlos Cañizales en la división minimosca.
“Me siento muy bien. Nunca dejé el gimnasio durante la pandemia así que basamos el entrenamiento en puro guanteo”, comentó Cañizales desde la nación neogranadina, horas antes que fuera cancelada la pega frente al mexicano.
“CCC” ya piensa en lo que será el próximo año. “En 2021 la meta es unificar títulos. Nosotros queremos buenas peleas”, comentó. El peso minimosca tiene como grandes contendores a los peleadores japoneses como el japones Kenshiro Teraji, invicto en 17 combates y que es el actual monarca del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo.

El criollo aseveró que esta no fue su mejor preparación por la pandemia del Covid-19, pero nunca salió del gimnasio. «La alimentación ha sido clave, no he dado el peso durante todo el año, pero pude hacerlo para esta pelea y daremos un gran espectáculo”, comentó un emocionado Cañizales que no pelea desde el año pasado y que seguirá sin pelear por lo que resta de 2020.
Maestre y Finol representarán a Venezuela
Cañizales iba a protagonizar el combate estelar de la cartelera, pero ahora la responsabilidad de ser el astro de la contienda quedará en manos de dos compatriotas del luchador venezolano.
Gabriel Maestre y Yoel Finol también serán parte de la cartelera que se realizará en la Discoteca Kilymandiario de la localidad de Puerto Colombia. El “Capitán” Maestre se enfrentará a Daniel Vega, mientras que Finol hará lo propio frente a Javier Martínez.
En la cartelera también estará de regreso Alys “La China” Sánchez y peleará también Franklin Manzanilla. Kelvinyer Salazar expondrá su invicto de 16 victorias y un empate en suelo colombiano.
Por su parte Nalek Korbaj y Diego Pereyra harán su estreno en el boxeo profesional en una cartelera que está llena de boxeadores venezolanos.
