Yulimar Rojas cerró su temporada de 2021 con el premio que le hacía falta en su estantería, el diamante de la Diamond League (algo que se le había escapado durante los últimos años). Lo de la venezolana no es solo ganar sino también dominar su prueba, el salto triple, como nadie lo ha hecho.

2021 será un año que Yulimar recordará toda su vida, el remoquete de “La Reina” se le ajustó mejor en el atípico año olímpico que terminó con la magna cita deportiva en la ciudad de Tokio. En Japón, Rojas consiguió, sin oposición, su primera medalla de oro y además quebró el récord mundial, que databa desde 1995, con un magnánimo salto de 15.68.

El oro de la venezolana era esperado por todo el mundo, pero la criolla supo manejar la presión y conseguir su segunda presea olímpica. Tras sacarse de encima la responsabilidad de los Juegos Olímpicos, le quedaba la misión de ganar el diamante de la Diamond League.

Rojas siempre estuvo cerca de lograr esa hazaña, pero siempre tuvo al frente a la colombiana Caterine Ibargüen y luego llegó la modalidad de muerte súbita en la que el último salto es el que cuenta.

Antes de la parada final en Zurich, Rojas logró adueñarse de la válida realizada en Lausana, Suiza y logró ahí la segunda mejor marca de la historia del salto triple con un 15.54. Tras esto la mesa quedó servida y Yulimar Rojas con un salto de 15.48, la cuarta mejor marca de la historia se convirtió en la campeona de la Liga Diamante.
